Sean Payton suspended for 2012 season

Saints HC Sean Payton has been suspended for one year. Saints GM Mickey Loomis has been suspended 8 games and fined $500,000. The Saints have also been fined $500,000 and lose a second round pick in 2012 and 2013. Former Saints and current Rams DC Gregg Williams received the stiffest penalty, being suspended indefinitely, with a review to come after the 2012 season. Player penalties have not yet been handed down.

Fantasy Impact:

This is obviously huge news for the entire Saints organization. Payton is the mastermind behind the team's prolific offense and his absence will hurt Drew Brees and Co. The key Saints will still be fantasy factors, but a downgrade across the board should be expected. It will be interesting to see how this affects contract negotiations with Drew Brees, who is currently franchised and reportedly remains far apart from the Saints on a long-term deal.
