Reports: USC sent a contract to Del Rio

USC sent a contract to Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio on Monday night, as the former Trojans All-American emerged as the likely successor to Pete Carroll, who officially became the Seattle Seahawks coach.

Del Rio didn't accept the job yet, because his contract with the Jaguars could prove a stumbling block, but the university presented a formal offer Monday. The former USC linebacker will also meet with Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver today. If Del Rio gets fired, the Jaguars must pay him more than $15 million.

If he resigned, however, and took the USC job, Del Rio would not collect the money.
