Brandon Marshall likes the addition of Martellus Bennett

Wednesday, July 17, 2013, 7:50pm

ESPN - [Full Article]

Chicago Bears receiver Brandon Marshall said Tuesday he's happy for the addition of tight end Martellus Bennett, because it could take some of the receiving pressure off him.

"I am (looking forward to having more weapons)," Marshall told ESPN Chicago's Sarah Spain while attending the ESPYs. "It was tough sledding last year. I think that's why I had to have the surgery. I had 2-3 guys on me every single play, but bringing in big boy Martellus, I don't think the league really knows how good he is."

Fantasy Impact:

We're skeptical that the self-proclaimed "Black Unicorn" is going to make a huge impact, but it's possible if new HC Marc Trestman makes him a big part of the offense. The top season by a TE in a Jay Cutler-led offense was Greg Olsen's 60-612-8 in 2009 and the four-year average from '07-'10 with Olsen and Tony Scheffler was 48-552-5.3, which equates to #18 TE numbers in our 2013 projections. Of course, that doesn't even count the 37 total catches in the last two seasons by Kellen Davis. The Bears should throw the ball more, which will certainly help.

Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew (ankle, doubtful) returned to take limited reps Friday after missing practice earlier in the week and is doubtful for Week 17. It's a step in the right direction, but the doubtful tag means that he's probably not going to play this week. Tony Scheffler should continue to see extra snaps.
