Devin Thomas Fantasy News

WR Mario Manningham on Thursday had not yet been given medical clearance to practice, and it appears as if the big-play receiver is going to be doubtful to play in Sunday’s NFC East meeting with the Eagles.
Manningham sustained a concussion in last Monday night’s victory over the Rams. Without him, the Giants will have to scramble to find a replacement at a position already lacking depth with the news this week that Domenik Hixon will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.
The options to start alongside Hakeem Nicks are second-year player Victor Cruz— who made his first two NFL receptions last week—and Brandon Stokley, the 35-year old veteran who was signed last week. The other receivers on the roster are Devin Thomas and rookie Jerrel Jernigan.

Victor Cruz has a real chance to be the third receiver in a very crowded competition.
But if he wants to make something of that chance he’ll have to do much more than the one catch for 10 yards he had last week. Domenik Hixon (4-49) is the favorite for the job, but Cruz does have some explosive potential as he showed last year in the preseason against the Jets.
Right now he hasn’t separated himself from Devin Thomas, Darius Reynaud and the rest of the pack. He has to do it tonight, or he’ll be battling for a different role.

Signed a day apart in late November, Michael Clayton and Devin Thomas have been with the Giants for five games, and if you told either of them heading into the regular-season finale they wouldn't have a single reception, they would have been, well, more than surprised.
"I'm definitely hungry, waiting for my first one, we'll see what happens on Sunday," Clayton said.
It's been a long wait for both receivers, but at least one of them figures to be needed against the Redskins. Hakeem Nicks (broken toe) joins Steve Smith (knee) and can't play this weekend, leaving Mario Manningham and Derek Hagan as the fill-in starters. If the Giants need a third receiver, Clayton or Thomas gets the call.

As for the other injured receiver, Mario Manningham, his hip flexor situation will likely be an issue this week but there sounds like a chance he could play on Sunday against the Eagles.
That would be huge because it would give the Giants two starting receivers of Manningham and Hakeem Nicks, allow them to use Derek Hagan as a third receiver, and not force them to rely on Michael Clayton or Devin Thomas as a regular receiving option in the most important game of the season.

The Giants have been awarded Devin Thomas off waivers. The former second-round selection had been waived by the Panthers on Tuesday.
Carolina RB DeAngelo Williams Doesn't Travel to St. Louis
Saturday, October 30, 2010, 5:10pm
Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams didn't travel to St. Louis for tomorrow's game against the Rams with the rest of the team. Wide receiver Devin Thomas and tackle Jeff Otah also stayed behind in Charlotte.
Williams wasn't expected to play, but this news officially puts Jonathan Stewart in the spotlight. In both our PPR and regular rankings, Stewart is in the top fifteen. Get him in your lineup.
