Brandon Stokley Fantasy News

Add a receiver who has 672 receptions over the past six years into an offense and it's bound to have an impact on how things get distributed. But Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas said Wes Welker's presence can help everyone's output.
"I knew when he was coming in that I would probably get more one-on-one coverage, so I was kind of excited, actually, because with that guy, and (Eric) Decker, and two great tight ends, it's going to be hard to double-team somebody," Thomas said. "So, I think it will help me out and help the team out.
"He's one of the best in the game at what he does at the slot position. I think he can bring something in for us and help us out on the offensive side of the ball."
Welker figures to get most of his targets from the departed Brandon Stokley (3.9 per game) and will also eat into the targets of TEs Jacob Tamme (5.3) and Joel Dreessen (3.6). Less clear is how the targets for Thomas and Decker will be affected.

Broncos sign Wes Welker to a two-year deal
Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 5:03pm
And there it is: what many in New England thought wouldn't happen has. Wes Welker has left the Patriots. He signed with the Broncos.
It's reportedly a two-year deal worth $12 million total, so a curious move by the Patriots to let him walk. Welker will take over for Brandon Stokley (45-544-5) in the slot, and will surely siphon some targets off of Eric Decker, Jacob Tamme and perhaps Demaryius Thomas, who has a downfield skill set that might protect his targets more than the other Bronco receivers. Still, Welker should be heavily targeted, and that will impact the entire offense. His value goes down a bit with the move. It's a boost for Peyton Manning, who gets a great weapon in the slot. In New England, Welker's departure is good news for Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski, along with whomever the Patriots find to start at receiver next season. (Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman are “poor man’s Welkers” and Brandon Lloyd may get a chance to stick around.) As for Tom Brady, he can't be happy about losing his security blanket in the slot.

The Indianapolis Colts will not renew wide receiver Austin Collie's contract, the Colts announced Saturday.
"Austin was a warrior and an inspiration for the franchise and Colts fans around the world,” said Colts Owner and CEO Jim Irsay. “He was a great player for us and a superstar for our community, and will always be a part of the Colts family."
The most logical landing spot for Collie would be to join Peyton Manning in Denver, possibly replacing Brandon Stokley as the Broncos' slot receiver. Collie averaged 6.4 catches for 72 yards and 0.88 TDs in nine games with Manning during the 2010 season.

Brandon Stokley returns for the Broncos, which likely means a few less targets to go around for Jacob Tamme and Eric Decker. Decker has been undeperforming of late, but we believe it's only a matter of time until Peyton Manning brings him back to relevance. Start him as a WR3 with lots of upside in a nice matchup.

It appears slot receiver Brandon Stokley will miss his second consecutive game with a hip injury. Stokley didn't play against the Buccaneers, and the short turnaround for Thursday night's game won't help. Stokley observed but did not participate in the Broncos' practice Tuesday.
With Stokley down, the Broncos primarily used two-tight end sets against Tampa Bay, with Jacob Tamme essentially playing the slot. Tamme led the team with nine catches.
