Sidney Rice going on injured reserve, season over
Wednesday, November 30, 2011, 8:31pm
WR Sidney Rice will go on IR, ending his season, Pete Carroll said. #seahawks
This is a tough break for Rice owners, though he hasn't exactly been lighting it up this season. Look for Ben Obomanu to take his spot in the starting lineup, but Doug Baldwin should be the main beneficiary with Rice out. He caught 13 passes for 220 yards and a TD with Rice out against the Falcons and Giants before laying a goose egg against the Browns. He has also posted 50+ receiving yards in four of his past five games.

Seahawks wide receiver Mike Williams caught 10 passes for 123 yards in the October game and his size and toughness are ideal against Chicago’s Cover 2 defense. Williams and Ben Obomanu are precision route runners and Hasselbeck is going to need time to connect with them and also tight end John Carlson and Brandon Stokely, who came up big against the Saints. Carlson had two touchdowns.

Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu (dislocated shoulder) has had "a phenomenal recovery," Carroll said. He's expected to play Sunday

Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck, who tossed four interceptions last week, will have his two starting receivers, (Mike Williams and Ben Obomanu) back in the lineup after a one-week absence. Hasselbeck is 3-1 against the Falcons lifetime. If there is one knock on the mighty Falcons is that they give up too many yards on defense, but they are allowing only 18.7 points per game (seventh-best in the NFL). Hasselbeck better be careful, too, because Atlanta is a takeaway machine with 16 interceptions
Obomanu, Mike X Williams back at practice for SEA

Ben Obomanu is not sure how many stitches it took to close up the cut on his right hand.
He's more concerned with how he's going to adjust to catching the ball in spite of those stitches.
"You just have to adapt a little bit," he said after Wednesday's practice. "The thing about receiver is you want to be able to catch the ball naturally. But at the same time, I'm trying to adjust and figure out some things. It's a day-by-day thing, and hopefully by the end of the week, I'll be comfortable with some kind of way to make it work to help the team out Sunday."
Both Obomanu and Mike Williams practiced on Wednesday, though Obomanu's number of receptions was limited because the team wants to give his hand more time to heal.
