McKnight became the third Chiefs player to tear his Achilles tendon when he was hurt in practice last week. He was coming off a two-touchdown game in a win in Miami.
RB Jamaal Charles is active and ready to go for Monday night. Those owners who took the chance can now take a breath. It's a good matchup against the Pats at home, and based on Andy Reid's history, Charles should get a good-sized workload.

Michael Buchanan DE Ankle
Jamie Collins LB Thigh
Daniel Connolly G Foot
Alfonzo Dennard CB Shoulder
Rob Gronkowski TE Knee
Don Jones S Hamstring
Vance Walker DE Shoulder
Jamaal Charles RB Ankle
Tamba Hali LB Ankle
Sean Smith CB Groin
De'Anthony Thomas RB Hamstring
Charles is listed as probable which is a good indication he should be in the lineup Monday night. Given Andy Reid's history, Charles should step back into a normal workload with backup Knile Davis getting limited time. Charles was listed as limited in practice, but according to reports was a full go Saturday. On the Patriots side, Gronkowski remained limited in practice but is listed as probable and is expected to play. He's playing time has been gradually increasing since Week 1.

Even the Chiefs didn’t know they would need McKnight so much and so early in the season. They went exclusively with a short passing game against the Dolphins. All of quarterback Alex Smith's 25 attempts went less than 10 yards, eight yards being his longest throw of the day.
The Chiefs were looking for receivers who could run and make yards after the catch, and they correctly identified McKnight to be in that category. He played mainly on passing downs and was a prominent part of the game plan.
McKnight could still have a role when Jamaal Charles returns, especially after coming off this performance and even with Charles an excellent pass catcher himself. After all, the Chiefs don't have a ton of throwing options. McKnight may have some value in deeper leagues for those who can't afford to wait things out, but is still very questionable for those in typical leagues.

Dwayne Bowe returns from suspension.
But don't expect to see Goodson on the field any time soon.
The Jets, in announcing Goodson's return Monday night, also announced that Goodson will be suspended the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Jets running back Joe McKnight was arrested in New Jersey last week after police discovered two outstanding warrants when he was stopped for speeding and changing lanes without signaling.
The arrest occurred on July 30, when the players had a day off from training camp. McKnight was pulled over shortly after 11 a.m. in Hanover Township, near the Jets training center, after he passed a police officer on the right at a high speed and then changed lanes without signaling in his 2010 Mercedes Benz, according to Capt. Shawn Waldron.
Jets RB Bilal Powell played every down with the first-team offense at running back.
Rex Ryan, the Jets coach, indicated Powell was perhaps the most impressive player on the field.
“He did run the ball hard,” Ryan said. “Now, obviously with the opportunity he’s been given, he’s really taken the reigns.”
Powell rushed for 41 on six carries, including a slicing 24-yard gain on his first attempt. A touchdown run of three yards was called back due to a penalty, though Powell later broke three tackles after catching a screen pass to gain eight yards.
Neither Chris Ivory nor Joe McKnight dressed for the scrimmage, meaning Powell played every down with the first-team offense at running back. Ivory needs to get healthy soon and he should still win the job. But Ryan's statements could be meant as a wake-up call for the oft-injured Ivory.

The Jets current running-back situation isn't good. Chris Ivory (hamstring) still hasn't practiced, Mike Goodson isn't in camp (no one is saying when or if he'll show up) and Joe McKnight seems to develop a daily ailment, leaving Bilal Powell and John Griffin. Actually, Griffin has demonstrated some cut-back ability, but they'll need the big dogs to make this running game go.
The concern with Ivory is that he's never done it for a full season, and that's nothing to take lightly at the running-back position.
While the Jets need Ivory to step up, and it seems like he'll be given a chance, there are some other experienced backs on the team as well: Mike Goodson, Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight. Ivory has certainly shown flashes, but has also struggled with injuries. We rank Ivory 19th among RBs with an ADP of the 6th round. The team is hoping Ivory can produce as an RB1, but if he can't, it could turn into a committee situation.

The Jets acquired two backs in the offseason, Chris Ivory and Mike Goodson, an indication they don't view Bilal Powell as a long-term answer. The same could be said of Joe McKnight, but he has value as a kickoff returner. Powell has to find a niche. His value increases if Goodson is suspended for his recent arrest.

Chris Ivory, who averaged an eye-opening 5.1 yards per carry in limited snaps over three seasons with New Orleans, is sitting even prettier in the fight to be the Jets’ top backfield option now that newly acquired Mike Goodson’s future with the team is up in the air after his arrest last week on drugs and weapons charges.
Ivory’s only competition for snaps with Goodson out are Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight, and new general manager John Idzik seemingly has spent much of the offseason trying to write McKnight’s ticket off the roster.
The article also describes Ivory making a move off of a swing pass, which is good news for his potential upside heading into 2013. The Saints didn't use him at all in the passing game, but if he can show playmaking ability and decent hands, he may be a three-down back for the Jets. Right now, we're projecting him as a two-down back.
Sources say Goodson and a companion were found intoxicated in an SUV that was stopped along Route 80 in Denville.
Goodson was being taken to a hospital when authorities discovered marijuana in his possession. Officers searching the SUV also found a 45-caliber handgun loaded with hollow-point bullets.
