Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (right shoulder) took full practice reps again Thursday. We'd like to see Roethlisberger take a few hits before recommending him as a start, but his presence should upgrade the entire Pittsburgh offense. Byron Leftwich (ribs) missed practice Thursday after full reps Wednesday.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (right shoulder) practiced fully Wednesday. Rothlisberger wants to play but is still iffy for Week 14. HC Mike Tomlin said that Big Ben had "good velocity" on his throws in practice. We can pencil him in as the Steelers' starter for now. Byron Leftwich (ribs) practiced fully Wednesday.

Mendenhall was demoted after a poor performance last week. Jonathan Dwyer will get the start with Isaac Redman backing him up.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (right shoulder, out) took limited practice reps all week and is out for Week 13. It means Charlie Batch will get another start, which is bad news for the entire offense, including Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown, Heath Miller, and even Jonathan Dwyer, who will likely face eight men in the box. Byron Leftwich (ribs, out) missed practice all week and is out for Sunday's game.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (right shoulder) took limited practice reps again Thursday. Roethlisberger is very iffy for Week 13. The rib injury is of greater concern than the shoulder, but they are both hindering his ability to play. Charlie Batch would get another start if Big Ben can't play. This is bad news for Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown and Heath Miller. Byron Leftwich (ribs) missed practice again Thursday.

Steelers QBs Ben Roethlisberger (right shoulder, out) and Byron Leftwich (ribs, out) missed practice all week and are out for Week 12. Charlie Batch will get the start against the Browns. Since 2010, Mike Wallace has averaged 3.0-69-0.7 in three games with Charlie Batch at QB.

Steelers QBs Ben Roethlisberger (right shoulder) and Byron Leftwich (ribs) did not practice Wednesday. Charlie Batch is expected to get the start against a Browns defense that will likely get CB Joe Haden back.

Steelers are signing QB Brian Hoyer.

Fantasy Impact:

Ben Roethlisberger is doubtful and Byron Leftwich is out vs. Cleveland so Hoyer will back up starter Charlie Batch.

Charlie Batch to start at QB for the Steelers

NFL.com - [Full Article]

NFL.com's Aditi Kinkhabwala reports Charlie Batch will start at quarterback Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, according to a source with direct knowledge of the Steelers' plans. Kinkhabwala confirmed backup quarterback Byron Leftwich sustained fractured ribs in their 13-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night.

Fantasy Impact:

It looks like the earlier report of Byron Leftwich being out "a while" was dead on. Considering how reluctant the Steelers were to put 37 year old Batch into the game Sunday Night, with Leftwich in obvious pain, we can't see them having much faith in Batch's in-game abilities at this point in his career. The Steelers are expected to work out QBs.

Byron Leftwich could be out 'for a while'

Steelers are concerned QB Byron Leftwich will be out for a while with injuries. Big Ben in doubt for Sunday, so they expect to workout QBs this week.

Fantasy Impact:

Charlie Batch is next on the depth chart if neither Ben nor Leftwich can play. With Isaac Redman having a concussion, expect the running game with at least Rashard Mendenhall and Jonathan Dwyer to be very active against the Browns as the Steelers are hoping Ben can return for Week 13 against the Ravens.

While Steeler QB Byron Leftwich stunned the Ravens with his legs, he couldn’t get much done with his right arm, perhaps in part because he was nursing his own rib and shoulder injury for much of the second half.

“Leftwich was hurt pretty much the whole game,” safety Ryan Clark said. “We couldn’t make a play for him.”

Leftwich downplayed the injury, saying only, “I’m OK.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (right shoulder, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 11. Byron Leftwich should get the start, but is not a good fantasy option against the Ravens. Roethlisberger owners should have a solid backup plan for the foreseeable future as the injury has been referred to as "rare and dangerous." Ben is unsure when he will return.
