Max Komar Fantasy News

The truth is that if the Cardinals saw the wide receiver position as the dire need that many of their fans do, they would have made a deal for a receiver by now.
But coaches like the talent they have at the position. They think Andre Roberts, in his second season, is ready to step into the starting role. They believe Early Doucet is a playmaker, provided he can stay healthy - which he hasn't been able to do in three NFL seasons.
Stephen Williams, a second-year pro, has size, speed and skills. Stuckey has some experience. Isaiah Williams has been impressive in training camp. Demarco Sampson looks like a real find in the seventh round. And Max Komar made the team last year as an undrafted rookie.

The Arizona Cardinals expressed interest in free-agent wide receivers Braylon Edwards and Malcom Floyd, who ended up signing with other teams.
Steve Breaston, one of last year's starting receivers, signed with Kansas City, prompting speculation the Cardinals would make a move to replace him.
The team did, but coaches don't seem to view the position as the serious weakness critics do.
Andre Roberts is the starter opposite Larry Fitzgerald for now, with Early Doucet pushing him. Max Komar and Stephen Williams played a little last year as rookies, and Demarco Sampson, a seventh-round pick this year, has looked good in camp.
With Kevin Kolb at quarterback, whoever becomes Arizona's starter opposite Fitzgerald could be worth monitoring. The Arizona offense has gone from being a joke to being respectable.

After making Stephen Williams, an undrafted rookie from Toledo, a starter, the Cardinals now have Max Komar, an undrafted rookie from Idaho, as their third receiver. The No. 4 position will be manned by Onrea Jones, who was cut at the end of training camp. Jones has been on the practice squads of several teams the previous three years.

With the surgery and subsequent short-term shelving of Steve Breaston, the Cardinals re-signed receiver Onrea Jones and will see how their current wideout group does Sunday in San Diego before considering any other veteran additions, general manager Rod Graves said in a text message Tuesday night. The team will re-evaluate the position again after playing the Chargers, Graves added. The Cardinals feel if they can get through the next two games with the current group — Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Roberts, Stephen Williams, Max Komar and Jones — then both Breaston and Early Doucet can likely return after the bye (which comes in three weeks after a home game against New Orleans).
Cardinal Notes: Anderson, Fitz, Hightower
Monday, September 13, 2010, 1:03pm
– Coach Ken Whisenhunt thinks it will get better with QB Derek Anderson. Both he and his quarterback wore that tired smile that comes after a win. Anytime you can make some mistakes – or in this case, have the offense stagnant for a chunk of the game – and still win, that’s the best kind of learning experience. Anderson did throw the game-winning TD after all (celebration below) and didn’t throw an interception (although the Rams dropped at least one).
– It didn’t help that Early Doucet is hurt again, straining a groin and forcing two rookies – Stephen Williams and Max Komar – into significant playing time. Whisenhunt also said Larry Fitzgerald’s injured knee starting bothering him late in the game too.
– Tim Hightower may have cost himself dearly with two fumbles. Hightower had fumbling issues last season and to have it crop up twice today is the fastest way to the doghouse. The last one did look like he was down, but let’s face it, the only job the running back has after that last interception by Kerry Rhodes is to not turn it over. The game is then over.
