All-Pro wide receiver Roddy White has pronounced himself healthy for the stretch run, there is hope that the Falcons’ passing attack could be greatly enhanced.

“I got healthy,” said White, who battled a knee injury after taking a helmet hit against Jacksonville during the exhibition season. “I can tell you that much.”

White believes he could have done more to protect his knee.

“It’s just always tough out there when they are cutting you and hitting you in the knees and stuff like that,” White said. “That kind of prolongs your injuries. That’s kind of been my problem, getting hit all of the time. I think I’m going to run out of bounds more. Get first downs and stay alive, keep the chains moving.”

The Falcons are averaging just 222.3 yards passing per game, which ranks 18th in the league.

“On the passing game, as of this point, I think we are doing all right,” White said. “There are a lot of things we can be doing better. We’ve missed a couple of plays here and there. That’s kind of been our offense all year, up and down, up and down; we need a lot more consistency.”

White, who led the league with 113 catches last season, has 39 catches for 425 yards and four touchdowns. He’s on pace to catch 89 passes this season.

With Julius Jones possibly returning, White believes he can pick up the pace.

Two New Orleans coaches this week insisted, despite the selection of Mark Ingram in the first round two months ago, the team is not shopping tailback Pierre Thomas.

"He's here," said one coach when asked about some reports that Thomas. "We've seen firsthand that you can't have enough (backs)."

That said, the Saints have a real logjam at tailback with Thomas, Ingram, Chris Ivory, Julius Jones and Lynell Hamilton, also returning from injury. That doesn't even account for Reggie Bush, who sources from both sides still insist has a chance of returning to the club, despite a scheduled $11.8 million payout due in '11.

Saints RB Pierre Thomas placed on IR
Wednesday, January 5, 2011, 3:37pm

Jeff Duncan on Twitter - [Full Article]

Saints coach Sean Payton confirms that RB Pierre Thomas has been placed on Injured Reserve. Payton said Pierre Thomas had a setback last week at practice and that everyone "felt this was the best move."

Fantasy Impact:

This is a big blow to the Saints as they lost Chris Ivory to IR yesterday. It looks as if Reggie Bush and Julius Jones will carry the majority of the load for the Saints, with DeSean Wynn also in the mix for a few touches. While Jones should see the bulk of the carries, he doesn't have a track record of producing when given the opportunity. Expect the Saints to lean heavily on the pass.

Saints Place RB Chris Ivory on IR; Sign RB DeShawn Wynn.

Fantasy Impact:

So it turns out the Ivory injury was a bit more serious that initially let on. This clears up the Saints RB situation a bit for the playoffs, but Pierre Thomas is still considered questionable. Thomas is the favorite to be the lead horse on Saturday, but if he can't go Reggie Bush, Julius Jones & the newly signed DeShawn Wynn would have to cary the load.

Pierre Thomas will be game-day decision

New Orleans Times Picayune - [Full Article]

New Orleans Saints tailback Pierre Thomas didn't practice Saturday during the team's final tune-up for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Coach Sean Payton said, "The big thing now is just keeping his weight off it and getting the treatment, and we'll see where he's at tomorrow."

Fantasy Impact:

If Thomas can't go, Chris Ivory could have a nice fantasy day against a Bucs defense that has allowed huge days to Maurice Morris and Ryan Torain of late. Reggie Bush and Julius Jones will also be in the mix for more carries. If Thomas is active, the situation should be avoided all together.
