Lavelle Hawkins Fantasy News
Kenny Britt not yet making any cuts
Friday, April 27, 2012, 10:31pm
Titans WR Kenny Britt has resumed running, but is not yet allowed to do any cutting. The Titans will likely ease Britt through training camp, as they did last year when he was dealing with hamstring issues. The Titans are assuming Britt will be ready for the regular season.
The slow-and-steady approach worked last year with Britt, as he didn’t catch a single pass in the preseason (he only played in one game), but got out of the gate quickly during the regular season with 14 catches for 271 yards and three touchdowns in two games.
The Titans' first day selection of Kendall Wright suddenly gives the team a deep and talented receiving corps, with Britt and Wright joining Nate Washington, Damian Williams and Lavelle Hawkins. If Britt is on schedule to start the season, he'll likely be a third round fantasy pick, but he's not without substantial risk.

The Titans have agreed to terms on a contract extension for WR Lavelle Hawkins.

Wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins dislocated his right index finger against the Bengals and was disturbed to see a bone poking through his skin.
He was able to smile while showing off his stitches on Wednesday, but said the injury is still painful. He’s not getting much sympathy in the locker room, however.
“He’s just going to have to tough it out I guess,” Munchak said with a smile. “With a lineman, you break a couple of fingers, so what? Tape them up and play.”
Nate Washington (hip) is expected to play, but if he can't go, Hawkins would be a Week 10 sleeper.
Nate Washington expected to play against Panthers
Wednesday, November 9, 2011, 6:26pm
Nate Washington is dealing with a deep bruise to his hip, Lavelle Hawkins suffered an open dislocation to his index finger and tight end Jared Cook has a bruised knee. Titans coach Mike Munchak said he expects all three to play Sunday, but a group that's already missing Kenny Britt will likely be at less than full strength.
Damian Williams was shaping up as a sneaky start against the Panthers, and even if Washington plays, Williams is worth consideration. He has 15 catches for 165 yards and two TDs in his last four games, and that includes a one-catch, five-yard outing against the Texans.

Titans coach Mike Munchak said DE Dave Ball (concussion), WR Nate Washington (hip) and TE Jared Cook (lower leg) were injured against the Bengals. Wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins returned after dislocating a finger on his right hand.

Kenny Britt is out of the doghouse where he landed for coming to initial OTAs out of shape. Mostly. He’s still not running with the first unit -- lining up only after the likes of Lavelle Hawkins -- and didn’t have a great day. Fisher said Britt’s climb back up the depth chart is about consistency and time. If Britt doesn’t qualify as this team’s top receiver by opening day, it’ll be a huge disappointment.
Kenny Britt is currently ranked 39th on the 4for4 WR Cheat Sheets.

Tennessee Titans wide receiver coach Fred Graves indicated Lavelle Hawkins is a much-improved player.
"Between last year and this year, Hawk's made a tremendous jump,'' Graves said. "He's been more consistent and he understands how to play more than one position.''
It's nice to know Hawkins is getting better, but it would likely take a rash of injuries for him to become a notable fantasy player.
Vince Young unable to finish practice
Thursday, December 10, 2009, 9:42pm
Titans quarterback Vince Young aggravated an injury to his right knee during Thursday's practice and did not finish.
Coach Jeff Fisher didn't sound too concerned, saying Young suffered “a setback.”
Trainers put ice on Young's knee as veteran quarterback Kerry Collins completed practice with the first-team offense.
Young injured the same knee during last Sunday's loss to the Colts, but did not miss a snap.
“He has been trying to push through practice and he just had a setback so we shut him down,’’ Fisher said. “We’ll tend to him inside and see how he is tomorrow.’’
Young, who wore a wrap around the knee this week, went down to the ground after throwing a pass to receiver Lavelle Hawkins. Trainers tended to Young on the field and he eventually went inside the training facility.
