Chris Gronkowski Fantasy News

Denver Post - [Full Article]

As part of Denver HC Gary Kubiak's zone-blocking offense, the fullback will return to the roster. The Broncos haven't featured a true fullback on their 53-man roster since Chris Gronkowski in 2012, and Spencer Larsen boasted the last part-time role in the running game in 2008.

Twenty-three NFL teams used fullbacks last season. The Broncos will join the group this season with Juwan Thompson and Joe Don Duncan, signed last month, the current candidates to fill the vacancy. Kubiak also will look to add depth through the draft, which starts April 30, or with a street free agent.

Fantasy Impact:

The story went on to say that the Broncos tried to throttle up their running game after a humbling November loss to the St. Louis Rams. Pro Bowler C.J. Anderson blossomed, and the story also pointed out the undrafted tailback will enter offseason workouts as a starter. The author feels the balanced attack left quarterback Peyton Manning ineffective and lacking confidence. With Kubiak, power-based sets will increase in multiple formations, including the pistol, a concession to the shotgun Manning has mastered.

Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno is clearly working his way back from the injury, but the Broncos have to make roster decisions in the coming days.

And in his fourth training camp with the Broncos, Moreno finds himself nine months out from a major knee injury at a position where the Broncos traded for a fullback (Chris Gronkowski) and used a third-round pick on a running back (Ronnie Hillman).

Scouts from around the league that have seen the Broncos play in this preseason say Moreno still appears, , as players coming back from ACL injuries do, that he isn't quite 100 percent, especially when he moves laterally.

Jason Witten, Fullback?

Saturday, October 9, 2010, 7:20pm

Dallas Morning News - [Full Article]

Jason Witten, a tight end by trade with the Dallas Cowboys, is ready to be used at fullback in Sunday's game against Tennessee.

It is out of necessity. Chris Gronkowski, the only true fullback on the roster, missed his second consecutive practice today because of a strained groin. If Gronkowski cannot play, the Cowboys will use Witten and fellow tight end Scott Chandler at fullback.

"It's a tough job,'' Witten said. "I don't have the ideal look: big, thick neck. You have to be able to improvise. It's not just me. It's everybody. When you have different personnel, it helps keep the defense guessing.''

Witten said he has recovered from a sprained ligament in the right knee, an injury received 12 days ago in the win at Houston, and should be able to play against Tennessee without limitations.

"I'm eager to get back to playing,'' Witten said. "I really think this team is ready to play.''

Fantasy Impact:

If Witten is at fullback, that means more blocking, and that won't help his fantasy value. We're not saying you should sit him because of this, but it is something fantasy owners should be aware of.
