"Drew felt some discomfort in his foot at the end of minicamp," Smith said. “We decided to send him to the doctors for some evaluations and it was determined he had suffered an injury that would require a procedure. He recently had the procedure done and we expect him to miss around six weeks."

Falcons WR Roddy White (hamstring, ankle, questionable) returned to take limited reps Friday after missing practice earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 9. White says he'll be a game-time decision on Sunday; Drew Davis would get the start if White can't play. The Falcons play early on Sunday.

Falcons WR Roddy White (hamstring, ankle, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 7. With White out, Harry Douglas and Tony Gonzalez will benefit in the form of increased targets, but they'll both see increased attention from the defense as well. Drew Davis and Kevin Cone should see an increase in snaps too. Owners can expect WR3 numbers out of Douglas now that he's been thrust into a starting role.

Falcons WR Roddy White (hamstring, ankle) missed practice again Thursday. White was said to be 50/50 for Week 7 after injuring his hamstring in Week 5, but it's looking worse at this point in the week. If he's out, Harry Douglas and Tony Gonzalez would benefit, but Drew Davis and Kevin Cone would see an increase in snaps as well. Owners could expect WR3 numbers out of Douglas if he's thrust into a starting role.

Falcons WR Roddy White (hamstring, ankle) did not practice Wednesday. White was said to be 50/50 for Week 7 after injuring his hamstring in Week 5. If he's out, Harry Douglas and Tony Gonzalez would benefit, but Drew Davis and Kevin Cone would see a big jump in snaps as well.
With Julio Jones fully expected to be out a while, the Falcons desperately need White to play. If he is out, Harry Douglas will be the most experienced WR on the field for Atlanta, with Drew Davis and Kevin Cone both seeing big increases in playing time. Matt Ryan's stock has taken a big hit, but expect Tony Gonzalez to see more targets than ever.
The latest reports say Jones broke the screw that was put in his foot in his 2011 surgery, which obviously doesn't sound good. But, the good news for the Falcons is they have a Week 6 BYE to get Roddy White and Steven Jackson healthy. If Julio is indeed lost for the season, this would obviously be a huge blow to Matt Ryan and the entire offense. When Jones missed time in 2011, Harry Douglas saw an increase in snaps (from an average of 33 to 51), but the Falcons may elect to use Drew Davis and Kevin Cone and keep Douglas in the slot. Expect Ryan to lean even more heavily on veteran TE Tony Gonzalez and the run game, so this could be a good thing for Steven Jackson, if he can stay healthy. For now, Douglas looks like the best pickup in the Atlanta receiving corps.
