Bears QB Andy Dalton will start Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals. Justin Fields continues to nurse a rib injury.

No surprise here. Dalton has a difficult matchup against Arizona, especially with Allen Robinson doubtful.

Bears QB Justin Fields (ribs) returned to practice Wednesday, but QB Andy Dalton received first-team reps. “We’ve got to make sure medically he’s in a place where he’s safe,” Nagy said. “It’s important for him to continue to grow off of that momentum that he had those last couple games. You know we got into that (first) half against Baltimore and I thought (the Ravens) did a good job and then unfortunately (Fields) got hurt.

Good to see Fields practicing, but it appears the Bears plan on him missing at least another game. The Arizona Cardinals come to Chicago Week 13.

Goodwin was a full participant if the Bears would have practiced, so expect him to play. No need to rush Robinson back against an inferior team and with his long-term availability in mind. Dalton was expected to start, so Fields' ruling is just clerical since he is not on IR.

No surprise here as the news was trending toward this once Fields got hurt. Fields is still getting tests done on his injured ribs and Rapoport had said earlier Monday the turnaround for Thanksgiving Thursday was likely going to come too fast to get Fields back on the field. The Bears and Dalton get a road game at Detroit and Dalton can at least be considered a streaming option for deeper, two-QB leagues if he's needed.

We reported earlier today from Ian Rapoport that Dalton could get the start on Thanksgiving against the Lions thanks to a quick turnaround this week. X-Rays on Fields' ribs were negative but he was getting more tests.

While it's mostly good news, Rapoport added Fields will get more tests and a CT scan, and a few times this year the results of scans have caused players to miss time. With a quick turnaround and a Thanksgiving Day game ahead this week, Rapoport speculates we may end up seeing Dalton start in Week 12. For owners, this is something to monitor.

It's good news for Fields owners. Fields left the game for a play after a hit on his knee, giving way to Dalton, but Fields came right back in and stayed. He threw his first regular-season touchdown pass, a 2-yard throw to Jesper Horsted that gave Chicago a 7-3 second-quarter lead, the story said.

Matt Nagy reiterated, that when Andy Dalton is healthy he's the number 1 quarterback, Justin Fields, 2, and Nick Foles, 3.

Fields was much better in a win over the Lions in Week 4, so this is a bit surprising as one would assume the job now belongs to Fields. According to Grote, Nagy went on to say, "The next two days will tell us a lot in terms of where [Dalton is] at. We'll have an update for you on Wednesday."

Matt Nagy desperately wants Dalton healthy so he can run the joke that is the 'Matt Nagy offense.' Nagy has zero ability to create a creative game plan for a QB with actual talent so look for Dalton to play.
