At today’s press conference, Colts coach Jim Caldwell insisted that all of the team’s problems can be fixed, and he’s going to get to work on fixing them.
“There is no question I believe it’s all correctable,” Caldwell said.
The 34-7 final score of their loss to the Texans really didn’t do justice to how thoroughly the Colts got whipped: It was 34-0 at halftime before the Texans went into cruise control.
Caldwell said he never considered benching Kerry Collins in favor of Curtis Painter.
We figured the Colt players would have to be downgraded as a result of the loss of Manning. The running game didn't have much of a chance after falling behind early and often. Reggie Wayne finished with 106 yards and a TD and was the most productive fantasy player. Pierre Garcon and Dallas Clark had just 39 yards each and Austin Collie didn't have a catch.

WR Austin Collie (foot) did practice on Monday.
It's good news for Collie owners who probably used a fairly good pick on the WR, but the news of Manning will certainly hurt his value at last for the immediate future.

The Indianapolis Colts appear to be regaining its health as the preseason is about to close.
The only players not practicing Monday were wide receivers Anthony Gonzalez (hamstring), Austin Collie (foot) and Blair White (back), offensive lineman Ryan Diem (elbow) and safety Antoine Bethea (hamstring). White remains on the physically unable to perform list.
Mathis, who left in the first quarter of Friday night's preseason loss to Green Bay with a hamstring injury, was back at practice. So was linebacker Gary Brackett, who missed the Packers game with an injury to his right elbow.
"It was just sore . . . precautionary," Brackett said. "We didn't want to go out there and get it re-banged up and start the season (that way). Just being smart. I'll be ready to go Week 1."
NOTICE: wide receivers Anthony Gonzalez (hamstring), Austin Collie (foot) are STILL not practicing.

While Colts WR Austin Collie has declined to discuss his new carbon fiber Kevlar helmet, which has additional padding and weighs just two pounds as opposed to the typical five- to seven-pound models, Hall of Fame motor sports safety pioneer Bill Simpson said the receiver has told him he likes it.
"[Dallas] Clark loved it," said Simpson, who is in a partnership with accomplished auto racing team owner Chip Ganassi on the venture. "It's significantly better in impacts than what they have been using."
Kerry Collins comes out of retirement to join the Colts
Wednesday, August 24, 2011, 10:58am
Colts owner Jim Irsay announced via Twitter that the team has agreed to terms with Kerry Collins.
We heard before last week’s Colts preseason game that Curtis Painter and Dan Orlovsky had to improve or risk the Colts bringing in a veteran quarterback. They didn’t improve and now Collins is reunited with Jim Caldwell, who coached him at Penn State.
This is a clear sign that the Colts aren't confident that Peyton Manning will be ready for Week 1. It does give Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie and Dallas Clark owners a reason to feel better because Collins is capable of holding down the fort while Manning recovers.

Colts WR Austin Collie (knee) returned for Monday's practice.
Thursday, August 18, 2011, 5:20pm
Austin Collie was one of several players who missed practice this afternoon as the Indianapolis Colts resumed training camp at Anderson University.
The veteran wide receiver was having one of his knees examined by team physicians and his absence was not related to the concussion issues that plagued him last season, according to coach Jim Caldwell.
“He should be fine,’’ Caldwell said.
D. Clark, Collie, Gonzalez cleared to practice
Friday, July 29, 2011, 2:10pm
Dallas Clark, Austin Collie and Anthony Gonzalez have been cleared for full participation.
Injuries are an issue with all three players, but pay special attention to Clark and Collie as camp progresses. Collie is a high-upside 5th round pick who has top 10 potential if he can stay healthy. Clark's injury (wrist) is less worrisome because it was more of a freak injury than Collie's ongoing concussion issues.

Colts WR Austin Collie doesn't believe he's now more any prone to head injuries than he was before last season.
Colts RB Addai could play this week
Thursday, December 23, 2010, 2:24pm
Colts running back Joseph Addai says he has a "great chance" of returning to play Sunday at Oakland.
Addai has missed the past eight games with a nerve injury in his left shoulder, yet he's still the team's No. 2 rusher. He was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, and he says he got through it without a setback. He said if the game was Thursday, he would play.
Addai's improvement comes as the Colts deal with losing wide receiver Austin Collie for the season. Collie sustained a concussion Sunday against Jacksonville and was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
Not sure if owners should rush out to pick up Addai and expect a huge game, but be sure to monitor the situation.
