Coach Bill O’Brien wasn’t ready to name a starting quarterback Sunday, but he did praise two of his backup running backs – Jonathan Grimes and Chris Polk.

Grimes came off the bench for five carries and 23 yards and two catches for 12 yards.

“He’s a smart guy that embraces his role,” O’Brien said. “He can catch the ball, and he’s one of our core players on special teams.”

Polk had seven carries for 36 yards, a 5.1-yard average per carry. He also caught five passes for 34 yards.

“Polk had a pretty good game,” O’Brien said. “He showed some juice in the running game. He caught the ball well, too.”

The Texans finished with 24 carries for 71 yards, a 3-yard average.

Fantasy Impact:

Polk is a bigger back who would likely be a change of pace or short yardage guy while Grimes may be more of a true backup to starter Alfred Blue.

Texans were 'all over' RB Chris Polk after Eagles released him

Dianna Marie Russini, Twitter - [Full Article]

Before Philly removed the tender on Chris Polk, the Texans had interest in trading for him. When Philly finally released him, the Texans were all over him.

Russini also said that Polk will get the first chance to "hold down the fort" while Arian Foster is out.

Fantasy Impact:

We believe Alfred Blue has the inside track, but Polk may be the better option. This is a position battle to watch closely this month. Polk had back to back 1400-yard rushing seasons while in college and owns a career 4.7 YPC in the NFL.

Eagles offense shouldn't change much with Mark Sanchez

Monday, November 3, 2014, 8:46am

NJ.com - [Full Article]

On his very first throw of the game, Eagles QB Mark Sanchez took the shotgun snap, stepped up in the pocket and rifled the ball 52-yards downfield to who else, but Maclin.

"How 'bout that, huh?" Sanchez told reporters with a laugh after the game. "I was expecting maybe a handoff or a quick screen. Ease my way in. But you know Coach (Chip) Kelly. … If he was a basketball coach, he would bring you off the bench shooting three-pointers."

The gutsy play-call by Kelly and pristine execution by Sanchez and Maclin not only illustrate the head coach's confidence in the veteran quarterback, but it also signaled that there will be no 'dumbing down' of the offense because Foles will be out of commission for the foreseeable future.

Fantasy Impact:

If you saw any of the game, it was evident that the offense won't change much with Sanchez under center, which is good news for owners of Maclin. Perhaps the only change is running the ball a little more, especially giving bruising back Chris Polk a few more carries. If you're in need of a QB or are a Foles owner, it looks like Sanchez is a safe option to grab off your wire and plug right in.

Darren Sproles says he'll play Week 9

Tuesday, October 28, 2014, 2:37pm

Pro Football Talk - [Full Article]

Darren Sproles injured his knee in the team’s Week 6 win over the Giants and wound up being listed as questionable for last week’s game after spending the bye week rehabbing the injury. The team ultimately decided not to play him, however.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Sproles said things would be different against the Texans. Sproles practiced on Tuesday and said afterward that he will be in the lineup when the game kicks off in Houston.

Fantasy Impact:

With Chris Polk active, the team decided to rest Sproles another week. Polk had three carries and a catch while spelling LeSean McCoy against Arizona - his first offensive touches of the season. Sproles had seven carries in each of his last two games, but hasn't recorded a catch since Week 4.

Friday, October 24, 2014, 6:26pm

Eagles RB Chris Polk (hamstring, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 8. Polk would see an expanded role if he’s active and Darren Sproles isn’t.
