Lost in the shuffle is rookie Terrelle Pryor, the quarterback for whom the Raiders gave up a third-round pick in the 2012 draft, via the 2011 supplemental draft. Pryor could make his debut against the Chiefs, as the Raiders have installed specific packages for him.
Pryor emerged less than two weeks ago from a five-game suspension. He was added to the active roster on Monday.
Oakland Raiders sign kicker Dave Rayner
Saturday, October 22, 2011, 1:03pm
Rayner hit 13 out of 16 field goals last year in Detroit while filling in for an injured Jason Hanson. With Kyle Boller likely to start at quarterback, the outlook for Oakland's offense isn't great despite a good matchup with the Chiefs. There should be better options available if you need a replacement for Seabass.

Speculation that new Oakland quarterback Carson Palmer’s velocity and arm strength has been an issue was refuted by Oakland head coach Hue Jackson.
"You’ve got to be kidding me," Jackson said. "I get surprised at those kinds of questions because I would never put the guy on the team or (trade) draft picks like that if he couldn’t throw the ball or he could not do or be what I think he has the potential to be."
Even if Palmer isn't the player he used to be, he's still better than Kyle Boller. However, if Palmer is going to make any kind of fantasy impact, it won't be until week nine at the earliest.
Raiders now leaning towards Kyle Boller against Chiefs
Friday, October 21, 2011, 7:06pm
A league source and multiple Raiders players indicated on Friday that Kyle Boller is likely to start at quarterback for Oakland against the visiting Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, though no final decision has been made.
There was heavy speculation throughout the week that veteran Carson Palmer, who was acquired in a trade from the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday, would start just five days after joining the team. Boller's familiarity with the offense and teammates, however, seems to have prevailed for a 4-2 team hoping to keep pace with the AFC West-leading San Diego Chargers.
Coach Hue Jackson said Friday that he and the team knew who the starter would be but he remained non-committal, saying he could even use multiple quarterbacks.
"I know who the starting quarterback is," Jackson said, adding, "We'll have a quarterback that's ready."
Carson Palmer expected to start against the Chiefs
Wednesday, October 19, 2011, 12:35pm
Actually, this is a bit surprising considering Palmer hasn't played since the end of the 2010 season and is unfamiliar with the Oakland receivers. We thought that the team would let Kyle Boller start against the Chiefs, which would give Palmer three weeks to get ready for the Broncos after Raiders' Week 8 bye. We're not expecting much from Palmer in his first start with limited preparation. The Raiders are likely to go run-heavy with Darren McFadden and Michael Bush.

Update: Carson Palmer trade official
Tuesday, October 18, 2011, 11:06am
Oakland and Cincinnati spent much of Monday discussing the deal to the point early Monday night when a select few people realized it could happen. People involved in the deal's discussions thought it could happen, but they also recognized how delicate the talks were.
This is a relatively good situation for Palmer to land in, with lots of young talent around him, but don't expect a lot of deep balls to the Raiders young receivers. Palmer comes in as a low end QB2, but it's really a wait and see situation as we're not sure what type of shape Palmer is in, and coming to a new team mid-season is always a challenge.
We certainly wouldn't break the bank to acquire Palmer, but the rest of season schedule is relatively soft. He is better news for Raiders players than Kyle Boller would have been. Darren McFadden remains a must start, top-5 RB.
Garrard now says he needs back surgery

Take one name out of search for QB, David Garrard just called me and told me he needs immediate surgery on herniated disc in his back.
Reports: Raiders after QB Carson Palmer
Monday, October 17, 2011, 8:15am
According to a source familiar with the team’s thinking, the Raiders were “trying hard” to make a deal for Palmer, although the source highly doubted that Cincinnati owner Mike Brown would deal Palmer.
Oakland quarterback Jason Campbell left the game with a broken collarbone and could miss the remainder of the season. That leaves the Raiders as a playoff competitor with a shaky quarterback situation. Kyle Boller is the starter and Terrelle Pryor, who just became eligible last week after a five-game suspension, is the backup.
Brown was apparently hurt by Palmer and doesn't feel the need to trade the veteran QB, so many feel this won't happen. Even if Palmer is working out, chances are it would take some time for him to get back up to game speed. You can take a chance on Palmer if you're in a deep league with lots of rosters spots, or, if he's allowed to take up an IR spot.

That might have changed Sunday night. Boller completed 5 of 7 passes for 69 yards and looked morer poised in the pocket. At one point, he released a deep pass for Hagan, knowing full well he was going to get flattened.
Sure enough, Boller wound up on his back, but Hagan caught the ball and turned it into a 35-yard gain.
Edwards didn’t have the benefit of working with many first- and second-team players, as did Boller. Still, he looked unsure on several plays and was sacked three times. He also lost a fumble out of the shotgun.
Raider camp notes: McFadden, Boller, Heyward-Bey
Monday, August 1, 2011, 12:59pm
• Running back Darren McFadden looks rather serious about reaching the undisclosed lofty goals he set for himself this season. He is making players miss on a routine basis, making sharp cuts into the open field and blowing past would-be tacklers with ease.
• Backup quarterback Kyle Boller is well known for his arm strength. It was on full display on a deep pass to receiver Chaz Schilens down the right sideline. Schilens fought through a pass interference from strong safety Tyvon Branch and hauled in the pass, just before he got flattened by safety Stevie Brown. Schilens added a leaping catch on an in route, just before he got drilled by rookie Zac Etheridge. Both times, Schilens bounced to his feet.
• WR Darrius Heyward-Bey is day to day. Neither coach Hue Jackson nor Heyward-Bey will say what’s wrong with Heyward-Bey. He has not practiced since camp began Thursday.

Boller could start at QB for Raiders
Thursday, October 21, 2010, 9:14pm
Oakland Raiders quarterback Kyle Boller could make his first start of the season Sunday against the Denver Broncos. Or it could be Jason Campbell under center. Injured starter Bruce Gradkowski hasn't been ruled out, either.
For a second consecutive day, Raiders coach Tom Cable put off making a decision on who will start after all three quarterback practiced in some fashion Thursday.

Boller, who started four games with the St. Louis Rams in 2009 after four years as a starter for the Baltimore Ravens, took the initial snaps in practice with the Raiders' first-team offense and alternated reps with Campbell. Gradkowski worked out on his own in individual drills.
Boller is the healthiest of the three. Campbell injured his left knee during last weekend's 17-9 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and has been limping noticeably since. Gradkowski hasn't played since reinjuring his right shoulder in the first half of a Oct. 10 game against the San Diego Chargers.
