Montario Hardesty Fantasy News

The loss of the two tailbacks (Montario Hardesty and Dion Lewis) elevates Browns RB Brandon Jackson into the backup role behind Trent Richardson. "Brandon is a reliable guy,'' said coach Rob Chudzinski. "I have no issues with Brandon. Trent will be the guy that we're counting on in a lot of different ways. We have to do a good job of keeping him fresh throughout the course of the season. I’m looking forward to seeing Brandon in the (Bears) game.'' The Browns cut FB Owen Marecic became expendable when Chris Ogbonnaya showed he could block for Richardson this preseason as well as play tailback.
Ogbonnaya could play a Mike Tolbert-type role in Norv Turner's offense given the lack of talent behind Richardson.
The good news for Browns RB Montario Hardesty this week was that his injured right thumb wasn't broken, but dislocated. The bad news was that he'll undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Thursday, and a source told cleveland.com that he'll miss the first two to three regular-season games.
Dion Lewis fractured his fibula in tonight's game, so backup duties will fall to Chris Ogbonnaya and Brandon Jackson for the time being.
Browns RB Montario Hardesty will undergo knee scope.
It's looking more and more that Dion Lewis will backup Trent Richardson.

Browns HC Rob Chudzinski revealed that second-string running back Montario Hardesty suffered a dislocated right thumb during practice Monday and won’t play Thursday. Hardesty was hurt while catching a high direct snap, but he returned to action Tuesday on a limited basis, participating in individual drills. He wore padding or a soft cast on his thumb. “We padded him up, and he was OK,” Chudzinski said. “He went out and did some individual drills in practice today, and we’ll see about him for next week.”
Hardesty is currently the backup to Trent Richardson, but Dion Lewis (whom OC Norv Turner compared to Darren Sproles) is nipping at his heels.

Browns RB Montario Hardesty is still listed second on the depth chart at running back, but his injuries have enabled Dion Lewis, Chris Ogbonnaya and Brandon Jackson to get in more work. Hardesty is in the final year of his rookie contract and you’d have to say his roster spot is in jeopardy.
Hardesty was banged up again when an errant, direct snap apparently injured his thumb. It appears Dion Lewis has taken control of the RB2 spot behind Trent Richardson.

The backup to Cleveland RB Trent Richardson is likely yet to be determined, according to ESPN. ESPN said don't be surprised if RB Montario Hardesty loses his roster spot. OC Norv Turner’s backs have to be able to catch the ball. Hardesty is a hard runner who has overcome numerous knee injuries and survived two head coaches. Through it all, he has been a liability as a dump-off receiver out of the backfield.
The story went on to question that if Hardesty doesn't make it, can Chris Chris Ogbonnay or the 5-6 ½ Dion Lewis be counted on to ably replace Richardson in the event of another injury? The team also has Brandon Jackson on the roster. If you want to handcuff Richardson, it's a situation to pay attention to.

The good news with Browns RB Trent Richardson is that, despite reports he would miss all of August recovering from injuries, there is every expectation the back will be taking reps when camp opens. Will he appear to be more of a plodder? Will his yards per carry be where it needs to be? Will the wear and tear from his use at Alabama continue to manifest itself? And will he remain susceptible to nagging injuries? Well, those are certainly valid questions to ask after his rookie season. And there is a reason the Browns have stockpiled running backs this offseason as well.
Montario Hardesty, Dion Lewis and Brandon Jackson are among the other backs the Browns have stockpiled. We have Richardson 10th among 4for4 RBs and his ADP is 1.8. He's no doubt a risky pick, but with new OC Norv Turner and the reports of the offense running through him, there are some positives.

Browns RB Trent Richardson (ankle, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 17. Browns beat writer Tony Grossi believes there is a "zero chance" that RB Trent Richardson plays this week. Montario Hardesty will get the start for the Browns.
Browns beat writer Tony Grossi believes there is a "zero chance" that RB Trent Richardson plays this week.
Montario Hardesty and Chris Ogbonnaya (and perhaps Brandon Jackson) will split the RB workload with Richardson out.
Browns QBs Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy didn’t practice again today with shoulder sprains suffered Sunday in the loss to the Broncos. Running back Trent Richardson also remained sidelined with an ankle sprain. Coach Pat Shurmur didn’t rule them out for the finale Sunday in Pittsburgh, but said if he knows they can’t play he will make the announcement before gameday, likely Friday. Offensive coordinator Brad Childress said Richardson could be a “spot player” this week behind Montario Hardesty if he’s cleared to play. Richardson, who broke Jim Brown’s team rookie rushing record last week, is 50 yards shy of the 1,000-yard milestone.
All Browns players should be hands off in Week 17 as they face the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Browns RB Trent Richardson hobbled out with a walking boot on his left foot for the long trek to the team bus, where a bunch of dejected players and coaches sat waiting for him. At this point, it looks like Richardson might sit out next week's finale in Pittsburgh.
He underwent X-rays, which were negative. Richardson tried to answer a few questions at his locker, but two members of the Browns public relations staff prevented him from talking. He managed to say the ankle wasn't broken. "I'll be alright," he said. "I'm fine." It would seem very unlikely Richardson plays next week. Montario Hardesty would get the start but it's a tough matchup against Pittsburgh.
