Jaguars sign Laurent Robinson to five-year deal
Wednesday, March 14, 2012, 10:41pm
The Jaguars reached agreement with former Dallas free-agent wide receiver Laurent Robinson on a five-year, $32.5 million deal.
Robinson was one of the most surprising stories of 2011. After playing in just nine games in the 2008 and 2009 seasons due to injury, and catching just 34 passes in 14 games in 2010, Robinson joined the Cowboys and caught 54 passes for 858 yards and 11 TDs in 14 games, including 40-625-11 over the last 10 weeks. Those 128.5 fantasy points are the fourth-most amongst all WRs over that span. He has great speed and quickly developed a nice rapport with Tony Romo when Miles Austin missed time due to injury. He may not thrive as the Jaguars' WR1, but if they can bring in another playmaker on the other side, he should produce...assuming Blaine Gabbert can deliver the ball.

The Tony Romo-to-Laurent Robinson connection continues to pay dividends for the Cowboys.
Romo has completed a touchdown pass to Robinson inside the red zone in six of the Cowboys' last seven games.
Four times the touchdown has come on third down.
"He finds a way to get in the quarterback's vision and create a throw that the quarterback wants to make," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said of Robinson. "He's done that throughout the season and he's been a big addition for us."
Robinson scored the Cowboys' lone touchdown in their forgettable 34-7 loss Oct. 30 at Philadelphia on a 70-yard pass from Romo in the fourth quarter, but it's what Robinson has done near the goal line that's meant the most to Dallas.
Robinson is continuing to score TDs despite the return of Miles Austin. In fact, all three receivers are still nice plays in your lineup. There is a risk Robinson gets that clunker of a game considering he's technically a WR3 on the team, but we haven't seen any signs. The Cowboys play host to the Eagles on Christmas Eve.

New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora (ankle/knee) and safety Kenny Phillips (knee) did not make the trip to Dallas.
The positive vibes continue for a Dallas offense that should be getting Miles Austin back.

Even though he had a difficult time putting on his pullover sweatshirt, wide receiver Laurent Robinson does not see a way he will miss Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.
Robinson did not practice Wednesday because of a slightly separated right shoulder suffered in the first half of the overtime loss at Arizona. Robinson returned to the game, sporting extra protection under his shoulder pads.
“I’m going to be ready,” Robinson said. “That’s all that matters.”
Robinson's shoulder injury is worrisome, as is the return of Miles Austin, who is slated to start in Week 14. Robinson could still be productive in the Cowboys' WR3 role, but if he's also missing practice due to this shoulder injury, the odds are getting longer that he'll be starter-caliber in standard fantasy leagues.

Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin is expected to practice on Wednesday and baring any setbacks from his recovery from a hamstring injury, is expected to return to the starting lineup for Sunday night's game vs. the New York Giants.
Austin has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury and lost a total of six games due to leg injuries.
"We'll see," Austin said Monday afternoon before walking into the trainer's room at Valley Ranch regarding his status. "Take it one game at a time."

Laurent Robinson replaced Austin in the lineup and produced five touchdowns.

This obviously has potential to hurt Laurent Robinson's value, who has really emerged taking over for Austin. Expect Robinson to still be a factor, but probably not a significant fantasy option. If Austin does, indeed, slide right back into a starting spot, he'll at least be a WR2 play going forward. The Cowboys play the Giants on Sunday night.

Jerry Jones: Miles Austin not likely to play
Thursday, December 1, 2011, 7:48pm
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he doesn't think Miles Austin will play Sunday at Arizona.
Bad news for Austin owners but great news for Laurent Robinson owners given his recent production and a terrific matchup with a porous Cardinals defense.
