Patriots WR Torry Holt Placed On Injured Reserve

Looks like Torry Holt's run with the Patriots will end before he plays a game with the club.

Signed to a one-year, $1.7 million deal in the spring, Holt was placed on injured reserve today, the team announced.

This was to be the 12th year of Holt's illustrious career, and if this is it for the decorated veteran, he'll retire 11th all-time in catches (920, 6 behind Randy Moss), 10th in receiving yards (13,382) and 27th in touchdown catches (74).

"He is disappointed," agent Kennard McGuire said. "He looked forward to competing and playing with another great quarterback, and playing for one of the all-time great coaches."

Great as Holt's career has been, he was no lock to make the Patriots roster, with youngsters Julian Edelman, Brandon Tate and Taylor Price in the mix and Wes Welker back healthy. Still, he had an influence on those guys in the short time he spent with him that should serve them going forward.
