The NFL Network reported on Sunday night, citing a source informed of Saints TE Jimmy Graham's condition, that the Saints believe Graham suffered a sprained shoulder during Sunday's 37-31 overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and don't feel it's a major injury.
Though that has not been confirmed, HC Sean Payton's description of the Saints' decision to take Graham out of Sunday's lineup suggested it was more of a judgment call.
"The key is being able to function at full speed. So I think we were smart and got a chance to take a peek and decided we were gonna wait," Payton said of Graham, who went back into the game for two series after first suffering the shoulder injury but eventually went into the locker room for X-rays."
The bye this week certainly comes at a good week for Graham and his owners. Early indications are Graham should be ready to go in Week 7.
