Moreno may see more playing time

When Denver drafted Knowshon Moreno with the No. 12 overall pick in April, the plan was for him to be a three-down back and be a major part of the offense.

That plan may be coming into place. It’s partly because of necessity, but Moreno looks like he’s up to taking on more playing time. Denver’s other top rusher, Correll Buckhalter, has a high ankle sprain and he could miss a week or two. His chances of playing in a pivotal game against New England on Sunday could be in jeopardy.

Denver would miss Buckhalter. He has 267 yards rushing and he is averaging an eye-popping 7.2 yards per carry. The free agent signing from Philadelphia has been a perfect fit for Josh McDaniels’ system.

Moreno leads all NFL rookies with 249 yards rushing. He is averaging a very respectable 4.2 yards a carry.
