Jets Pro Bowl LG Alan Faneca could miss preseason

Jets Pro Bowl LG Alan Faneca underwent surgery to repair the broken middle finger on his left hand and he definitely won't play this week against the Ravens, according to Rex Ryan. The coach hinted that Faneca could miss the last three games, but he was confident that the senior member of the offensive line will be ready for the regular-season opener in Houston.

Faneca was replaced Friday night by Stanley Daniels, but Daniels wasn't at practice this morning. He was excused for an undisclosed personal reason, which means a first-year player named Nevin McCaskill worked with the first team.

The offensive line, arguably the strength of the team, is in a bad way right now. C Nick Mangold (knee) and RT Damien Woody (concussion) still are sidelined. I talked to Woody for the first time since his injury. He went home to New Jersey after it happened six days ago, and he didn't even attend Friday night's game, which tells me this was no minor concussion.
