If you thought Monday would be the day Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith would go ahead and name Mike Glennon as his starting quarterback for the rest of the season, then think again.
Glennon has played well in place of the injured Josh McCown. With McCown still recovering from the injury, Smith didn't even want to address the quarterback situation.
"I don't know why we have to go there right now," Smith said.
"I'll say this about Mike," Smith said. "Mike has played two great games. Odds are Mike will start for us this week. He's had two opportunities to play and he's played well. I could talk about Mike the rest of the time. I've been just excited about everything he's done. But we go from day to day. We need to get our football team better. The quarterback position isn't one that I'm really concerned about."
It's a legitimate question to ask who the starting quarterback is after Glennon's had two strong games. McCown struggled in the first three games. Smith did acknowledge Glennon probably will start against Baltimore on Sunday, but he implied that's only because McCown hasn't fully recovered from his thumb injury.
