Gruden: 'Intent' is to have RB Matt Jones ready for Week 1

It appears that running back Matt Jones is on track to play when the Redskins take on the Steelers next Monday night but the situation is still fluid.

The Redskins’ starting running back participated in a practice in pads on Monday at Redskins Park. However, he wore a yellow jersey, indicating to other players that he should not be subject to any contact.

Gruden said that the “intent” is to have Jones ready for the Steelers and that how he fares during the heavier practices this week will go a long way towards seeing if he will be able to.

Fantasy Impact:

He said that he felt a bit rusty running plays at first but he got got going once he got warmed up, the story said about Jones' first practice. Jones suffered an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder during the Redskins’ preseason game against the Jets on August 19. Since then he has done only conditioning work during the portions of practices that have been open to the media. Rob Kelley is a potential backup if Jones can't go in Week 1.
