Giants wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan was said to have sustained a mid-foot sprain in the Giants loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Jernigan's injury wasn't disclosed, but it explains the increase in snaps for Preston Parker late in the contest. Parker had one catch for 29 yards on two targets in the second half.
The Giants are already short on receivers. Rookie Odell Beckham Jr. remains sidelined by a hamstring injury, although coach Tom Coughlin noted the training staff is "claiming he's getting better."
Jernigan was starting alongside Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle as the Giants were using three-wide-receiver sets on a majority of their plays in the first two games. Rookie Corey Washington and Parker are Coughlin's other options moving forward if Jernigan is sidelined.
