Giants TE Boss unsure of week 2 status

Football season is under way, but it was more like baseball for Kevin Boss Sunday when he was whacked from behind by Panthers safety Sherrod Martin.

“It felt like somebody hit me in the back of the head with a bat,” the Giants tight end said as he left the stadium after the team’s 31-18 victory over the Panthers.

Boss left the game in the first quarter with neck and head injuries after Martin hit him as he leaped for a pass. It was a tough throw Eli Manning might have made only because a Panthers’ offside penalty gave him a free play.

The Giants said Boss, who caught a pass for 11 yards on the first play from scrimmage, suffered a concussion on the play. Boss said he didn’t lose consciousness but was “woozy for a second.”
