Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron going through learning curve

A quiet training camp translated to a quiet preseason opener for Dolphins starting tight end Jordan Cameron.

Cameron didn’t catch a pass against the Giants in Friday’s preseason opener. But head coach Adam Gase isn’t panicking.

“I feel like what’s going on with him right now is that there’s a little bit of a learning curve for him,” Gase said of Cameron. “We went through some struggles there in the spring (and) a little bit at the beginning of camp. The thing about the tight end position is that there’s a lot of responsibility you have. You’re doing multiple phases of the game.”

Fantasy Impact:

Cameron caught 35 passes for 386 yards and three touchdowns in his first season with the Dolphins last year. But the goal is for Cameron to duplicate his 2013 season, when he recorded 80 catches for 917 yards and seven touchdowns for the Browns. Tight end Julius Thomas finished with 108 catches for 1,277 yards and 24 touchdowns over his two seasons in Gase’s offense with the Broncos, the story pointed out. Cameron is 19th on our TE list coming into this season and has a 17th round ADP.

Chargers to sign RB J.K. Dobbins on one-year deal

Former Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins is planning to sign with the #Chargers on a one-year deal. Electric when healthy, Dobbins — who averages 5.8 yards per carry in his career — reunites with OC Greg Roman and can hit the market again in March.

Fantasy Impact:

Dobbins has had poor injury luck in his career, but has only managed 234 total rushes since being drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. This is a low-risk, high-reward move by the Chargers and might give them a runway to wait a little longer in the '24 Draft before they address the position.

Cowboys sign RB Royce Freeman

The Cowboys have signed running back Royce Freeman to a one-year deal. Freeman had 319 yards on 77 carries with 2 touchdowns last year for the Los Angeles Rams. He was 3rd round pick of Denver in '18.

Fantasy Impact:

Freeman hasn't rushed for 500 yards since 2018, his rookie season. This shouldn't have any impact on the team drafting at the position and/or bringing back Ezekiel Elliott.

The Eagles have paid another big-time, rising player. This time, WR DeVonta Smith gets a 3-year, $75M contract extension that includes $51M guaranteed.
