Dolphins consider starting RB race 'close'

For the Dolphins at running back, it's obvious Lamar Miller is the presumed starter but he hasn't exactly wowed yet despite enormous potential to do so. The fact is he had the tough moment fumbling against Dallas and didn't really do much in carrying two times for 6 yards against Jacksonville.

Daniel Thomas, who has been given a smaller share of first-team snaps in practice, has avoided the turnover but also hasn't lit it up, so to speak. Thus, we've got a no-decision so far.

Offensive coordinator Mike Sherman today said the competition is "pretty close."

Fantasy Impact:

The fact is, neither Thomas nor Miller have really done much of anything in the preseason, so this could all be to light a fire under Miller - or anyone else. Even the article assumes that Miller will get the job and still seems the favorite to do so, and we still agree. If anything, it may mean Miller slips a bit lower in drafts. Miller's ADP currently says he'll go in the early fourth round.
