Detroit loses RB Mikel Leshoure for season

Lions coach Jim Schwartz says running back Mikel Leshoure has a torn Achilles tendon and is out for the year.

The rookie was injured after being hit high by defensive end Cliff Avril during practice Monday. He was carted off the team's practice field after being attended to by team trainers.

The Lions were counting on the second-round pick from Illinois to provide power in the backfield to go along with the speedy Jahvid Best.

Fantasy Impact:

Best will most likely get a bigger workload as a result, and he's ranked 19th among our RBs prior to this news. Maurice Morris is next in line on the depth chart. Detroit could look to add another back.
