Despite practicing, Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list. He was eligible to play Sunday against St. Louis but his ankle refused to comply.
Stewart won’t play Thursday against Tampa Bay. If the ankle holds, he’ll return Nov. 3 against Atlanta.
Stewart won’t start. He had supplanted DeAngelo Williams as the starter last season. But when he went down Williams thrived. Williams is the NFL’s 11th leading rusher this season and will continue to start.
Williams' stock figures to take a hit once Stewart is healthy enough to play, though that's still no sure thing.
