It seemed like a near certainty that Danny Amendola would eventually need surgery to repair the groin injury he suffered during the season opener.
But it is currently believed that the New England Patriots wide receiver can heal through rest, according to a source. So Amendola's once inevitable trip to the operating table will be circumvented – at least for now.
Amendola was outplayed by free-agent-to-be Julian Edelman, though the groin injury certainly played a role. If Edelman returns, Amendola's upside will be somewhat capped even if he is 100 percent healthy in 2014.
