Could QB Charlie Batch Be Pittsburgh's Starter?

The forgotten man in Pittsburgh's summer quarterback derby likely will become The Man.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin gave Charlie Batch little practice time and hardly any in games this summer, as he gave Byron Leftwich and Dennis Dixon most of the time when Ben Roethlisberger wasn't getting it. Leftwich was expected to start through Roethlisberger's four-game suspension, right up until his injury Thursday night.

Word now is the Steelers are leaning toward Batch to start and they will bring in Dixon as they had planned to do had Leftwich started - using him in various spots at quarterback.

Fantasy Impact:

It would be hard to imagine Pittsburgh starting Batch over Dennis Dixon, but if Batch is the starter on opening day against Atlanta, he won't be much of a fantasy option. It wouldn't be good news for Mike Wallace, but Hines Ward and Heath Miller might be okay as Batch would likely throw plenty of short passes.
