Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson Remains A Reserve

Despite the fact that Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson is one of the few playmakers the team has on that side of the ball, Johnson remained behind Demorrio Williams and Corey Mays at Kansas City's recent minicamp.

For now, Johnson is not trying to cause trouble.

“If we get to training camp and I’m working my butt off and staying healthy and I’m still not out there with the first team, then we can look at a problem," Johnson said. "Right now, it’s not a problem at all. That depth-chart stuff, that doesn’t come into play until training camp. It’s not a priority for the coaches right now. When we get to training camp, that’s a little different. That’s when we really separate the men from the boys."

Fantasy Impact:

In Kansas City's season finale against Denver, Johnson intercepted Kyle Orton twice and returned both interceptions for touchdowns. He needs to be on the field more, and hopefully the Chiefs will come to their senses and realize this. Kansas City's defense won't be drafted in many fantasy leagues, but if Johnson is put into the starting lineup that would make the Chiefs a little more desirable. A starting role would also increase his stock in IDP leagues.
