Cardinals HC Whisenhunt tried to get backup quarterback Matt Leinart some work, inserting him at the beginning of the fourth quarter. But Leinart threw a poor pass on third down. Receiver Larry Fitzgerald was open on a post route, but Leinart threw to the sideline and cornerback Zackary Bowman intercepted.
"It was designed to go against a zero blitz," Whisenhunt said. "We were taking a shot (downfield). We had a good scheme for it."
Kurt Warner had practiced the play last week, but Leinart had not, Whisenhunt said.
After that play, Warner replaced Leinart, who was not available for comment after the game.
