Canty's On A Mission - [Full Article]

After suffering through calf and knee injuries in 2009, Giants defensive lineman Chris Canty is fully healthy and determined to help the Giants defense rebound from a disappointing season. He's been one of the team's hardest workers this offseason.

"I'm on a mission to help this football team any way I can," Canty said. "Last year, I wasn't able to contribute. It was very frustrating being injured and not being able to perform up to my best. This year, I wanted to take all of the excuses out of it. The coaches and the front office have done a great job of putting together a lot of talent on this football team. There's a lot of talent on the defensive line, so there's no reason why I won't have an opportunity to be successful. I didn't want to leave anything to chance this year."

Fantasy Impact:

Injuries played a big role in the decline of New York's defense in 2010, and the Giants have a rough schedule in 2010, as they will play their usual division opponents plus Green Bay, Indianapolis, Houston, and Minnesota. Still, with capable pass rushers such as Justin Tuck, Mathias Kiwanuka, Osi Umenyiora, and rookie Jason Pierre-Paul, plus a deeper secondary featuring new acquisitions Antrel Rolle and Deon Grant, the Giants defense shouldn't be ignored on draft day. It would be hard to pencil them in your lineup every week, but if you pair them with another decent defense they can certainly be used in the right matchups.
