Buc's Morris: Hot back will get carries

Tampa Tribune - [Full Article]

It looks like the Bucs have decided to scrap the 2-2-1 rotation they used last year to split up the workload among their running backs.

Bucs Coach Raheem Morris said Monday that instead of following a pre-determined pattern for his running backs the way he did last year, he will be a little more flexible with that group this year.

"I think the carries are going to be dictated by whoever the hot back is," Morris said in the wake of Monday's first workout at One Buc Place.

Cadillac Williams emerged as the lead ball-getter a year ago and he's still at the top of the depth chart, but Derrick Ward has a chance to earn a few more carries for himself over the course of the preseason.

"Caddy, he's done a lot of special things around here," Morris said. "He's got some shoes in the Hall of Fame and he's got some money in my emotional bank account.

Fantasy Impact:

Caddy is probably the safe bet as the starter despite what Morris said. He's only the 35th best back with an ADP of the 10th round at 4for4 though. He could be of value in certain fantasy matchups, given the Bucs run-first game plan, and is a good example the type of depth you can get toward the end of the draft this year.
