Bucs HC Greg Schiano explained that RB Doug Martin has a strong chance to come back this season if his range of motion can reach the appropriate level and Martin can deal with the pain.
Surgery, Schiano implied, is inevitable for Martin but he won’t injure that shoulder further by playing.
“Eventually, he’ll need to get it repaired,” Schiano said today.
As we've all heard by now, the injury has been reported to be a torn labrum, but that’s not been confirmed by the Bucs. It's hard to believe the Bucs would risk putting Martin out there at less than 100-percent given their record and it being very unlikely they are a threat for a playoff spot. That said, if there is a chance Martin comes back, he's probably still worth holding at least for now.
