Browns Beat: Travis Coons 'apparently' wins kicking job - [Full Article]

Travis Coons, a University of Washington product signed by the Browns on Dec. 30, has apparently won the kicking job over Carey Spear.

Spear, a Vanderbilt graduate, was born in Mayfield Heights, Ohio and grew up in Highland Heights, Ohio. He was among those not at practice as the Browns made cuts to reach the roster limit of 75 by 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Coons went 1 for 1 on field goals, hitting a 41-yarder, and 3 for 3 on PATs through the first three preseason games. Spear was 2 of 2 on field goals, connecting from 47 and 36 yards, and 4 for 4 on extra points.

Fantasy Impact:

It's not official but the story is concluding based on Spear not being at practice after cuts.
