Bills WR Sammy Watkins thinks foot injury managable

His surgically repaired foot was an issue. Sammy Watkins won’t debate that. But after being able to successfully get through two games in five days, the Bills top receiver is encouraged that he’ll be able to navigate his way through the regular season while making only small concessions to his weekly regimen.

“That’s kind of out the window,” he said when asked about playing Week 3. “I know what I’m doing with it. The team knows what I’m dealing with. It’s up to me to go out there and play. If I’m out there playing I can’t feel sorry for myself. The foot is not an excuse or issue.”

Fantasy Impact:

HC Rex Ryan also thinks Watkins can be ready. Watkins did not do much at all during the media viewing portion of practice on Monday. It’s clear that a reduced workload during the practice week will probably be the norm moving forward for the dynamic receiver. What has Watkins so encouraged is the fact that he played on the foot twice in five days and he got through both no worse for the wear. He was on the field for 42 plays (86%) in the season opener and then another 40 plays (75%) last Thursday night. While it's good news for fantasy owners Watkins thinks he can play through the injury, the bad news is it could mean a lot of inconsistent weeks of fantasy production.
