Belichick: 'We're going to need' Stevan Ridley

Running back Stevan Ridley was benched after his second-quarter fumble in the season opener, but it doesn't sound like Ridley will be kept on the sideline for the team's home opener against the Jets on Thursday night.

During his weekly interview on sports radio WEEI this week, coach Bill Belichick said he spoke directly with Ridley and "There's no problem there."

He also said: "Stevan’s a good player. I thought he ran hard. We have a long way to go. We’re going to need him. I’m sure he’ll contribute a lot for us this year.”

Fantasy Impact:

Given Shane Vereen's injury situation (out until at least Week 11), there's little to worry about with regard to Ridley's workload. He's not as rock solid as some of the other RB2-types out there, but he has more upside as well. If he doesn't fumble, he's going to be productive.
