Adrian Peterson growing as a receiver

The Vikings attempted 101 more passes this season with Brett Favre under center. That resulted in Adrian Peterson finishing the regular season with 49 fewer carries and 377 fewer rushing yards than in 2008.

However, Peterson made a big jump in receptions thanks to Favre's handling of the offense and his own improvement as a receiver. Peterson caught 43 passes for 436 yards compared to 21 for 125 last season. In fact, he had more catches than his first two seasons combined (40).

"I have grown tremendously [as a receiver]," Peterson said recently. "Just being more comfortable and running better routes. Getting different advice from [running back Chester Taylor], a guy that has been doing it for a long time. I feel pretty good."
