49ers head coach Mike Singletary says he has not yet decided on a starting quarterback for Week 10 against the Rams. "Sometime before the game we'll know who the starter is going to be," Singletary said.
Most observers suspect this is just posturing and the starting QB Sunday will be Troy Smith as Alex Smith is still recovering from a shoulder injury. Singletary has also taken some recent verbal jabs at Alex Smith's leadership skills while praising Troy. Troy Smith "led" the Niners to their win in London but did not look particularly impressive.
Alex Smith will likely be the emergency QB this weekend.
This may just be the 49ers playing head games with the Rams. All signs point toward Troy Smith being under center. The 49ers need any advantage they could get.
