Streaming Tight Ends: Week 7 Targets

So you missed out on a top-tier TE, or purposely chose to wait until later rounds with the strategy of streaming the position weekly? You’ve come to the right place. It’s time to assess your lineup and see if the TE you drafted is starter-worthy this week or if you are better off grabbing someone off the waiver wire who has an above average matchup which can hopefully translate to TE1 production.

The main focus of our research when looking at a TE’s matchup is 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) metric. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when coming up with weekly TE streamers.

The goal in streaming is to roster a player that is going to return TE1 fantasy points and in Week 6, two of my four picks finished the week in the top 14 at the TE position. Lance Kendricks racked up 14.4 PPR points as TE9 and Charles Clay managed 10.2 PPR points, enough for the TE14 spot.

After six weeks of football, 4for4 streaming candidates are averaging 8.7 PPR fantasy points per game, which currently ranks as TE18. The optimal TE streamer has a combined 78.8 PPR fantasy points, enough for TE3 on the season thus far. On to Week 7 where we are faced with bye weeks, injuries and lack of production. Here are this week’s streamers who will hopefully provide you some relief, as well as the kick in the pants your team may possibly need.

In order to provide advice that you can actually implement, candidates for streaming must be available in at least 40% of Yahoo fantasy leagues.

Hunter Henry (SD) @ ATL

Ding, ding, ding!! Currently sitting as TE5 overall after six weeks, Hunter Henry is your blue light special of the week. He gets a super juicy matchup against the Falcons defense who have given up the fourth most PPR schedule-adjusted fantasy points to TEs, with 18.5 per game.

Yes, Antonio Gates is back on the field but that did not seem to affect his production in Week 6 as Gates was targeted six times to Henry’s eight, translating to 3.6 PPR points for Gates and 20.3 for Henry, against a tough Denver defense.

Only owned by 36% of Yahoo players out there, Henry is a great add this week and if he’s available in your leagues, be sure to take advantage of your less informed league mates.
