FanDuel Week 5 GPP Breakdown

During the offseason, Chris Raybon and I put together a set of guidelines for FanDuel GPPs. These guidelines are meant to serve as a convenient reference to use while you build your lineups.

In addition to the handy guidelines, always keep in mind the principles outlined in the Definitive Guide to Stacking on FanDuel, and you’ll be well on your way to the top of the leaderboard.

When selecting your player pool for GPPs, remember that you generally want to take a high-variance approach, or compose lineups that will maximize your upside. Especially if you are playing multiple lineups, be sure to not gloss over the “Other Players I’d Consider.” While these may not be my highest-owned players, they are players that I definitely want exposure to, as I almost never build a GPP portfolio with more than 75% exposure to a single player.

Quarterback

Ben Roethlisberger $8,600 vs NYJ - In any other week, a quarterback coming off of a five-touchdown, 300-yard game would at least be in the running for the highest-owned quarterback of the week, but Roethlisberger is priced just $100 below Tom Brady, who figures to be the highest-owned player at any position.

The difference between the two this week, though, is negligible. The Steelers and Patriots are both favored by a touchdown or more and the teams have the two highest implied point totals on the main slate, within a single point of each other. Combine the fact that the Jets rank worse than the Browns in completion percentage allowed, fantasy points per attempt allowed, and quarterback aFPA with the likely ownership, and pivoting from Brady to Ben makes for a sharp tournament play.
