Week 3 Essential NFL Practice News & Notes for Friday

Bears QB Jay Cutler (right thumb, doubtful) missed practice all week and is doubtful for Week 3. Cutler is expected to miss 2-3 weeks, though there are reports that he’s pushing to play in Week 3. Brian Hoyer will start. He’s not much of a downgrade from Cutler at this point, so the Bears’ skill position players shouldn’t lose much value with Hoyer under center.

Bengals QB Andy Dalton (hip) took full practice reps all week. He was removed from the injury report, so he’s good to go.

Bills QB Cardale Jones (right shoulder, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 3.

Steelers QB Landry Jones (back) returned to take full practice reps Friday after missing practice Thursday.

Colts QB Andrew Luck (right shoulder, questionable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 3. Luck isn’t in any danger of missing Week 3.

Browns QB Josh McCown (left shoulder, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 3. McCown is expected to miss multiple games with a broken clavicle. Cody Kessler will start in the meantime.

Jets QB Bryce Petty (right shoulder, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 3.

Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 3. Dak Prescott will continue to start.

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson (ankle) took full practice reps again Thursday. Wilson said he’s “definitely feeling better” this week in practice. We’re expecting a bounce back game for him.

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ribs) took full practice reps all week. Anderson was removed from the injury report so he’s good to go for a pretty good matchup against the Bengals, who have struggled to stop the run.

Bears RB KaDeem Carey (hamstring, doubtful) missed practice all week and is doubtful for Week 3. Jordan Howard is trending up. He’ll serve as the RB2 in Week 3 behind a vulnerable starter, Jeremy Langford.

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee, doubtful) took limited practice reps all week and is doubtful for Week 3. There was some optimism late in the week, but it looks like Charles will miss Week 3. Spencer Ware is looking like a solid start despite a tough matchup against the Jets.
