Week 5 Essential NFL Practice News & Notes for Friday

Week 5 Essential NFL Practice News & Notes for Friday

Bears QB Jimmy Clausen (back, questionable) was limited Friday after taking full reps earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 5.

Bears QB Jay Cutler (hamstring, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 5. Cutler played pretty well last week and has a nice matchup with a shaky Chiefs’ secondary, though Kansas City is a tough place to play. The status of Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal looms large for Cutler, who is expected to play.

Broncos QB Peyton Manning (not injury related, probable) took full practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 5. Manning will be fine to face the Raiders.

Browns QB Johnny Manziel (right elbow, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 5.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) missed practice again Friday. Michael Vick will draw another start on Monday night. With a few extra days to prepare, he should fare better than he did in Week 4.

Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 5. Bell says his ankle is “flaring up” (per beat writer Kyle Meinke) after having surgery back in March. It looks like Bell will miss another week, probably longer. Ameer Abdullah saw 15 touches in Week 4. Theo Riddick checked in with six, while Zach Zenner saw three. Expect Abdullah to lead the team in touches if Bell remains out.

Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (ribs, probable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is probable for Week 5. Coleman is expected to return this week, per HC Dan Quinn, but he’s not going to see starter’s snaps with Devonta Freeman playing so well. Expect Coleman to see a handful of touches as Freeman’s primary backup.
