Week 17 Essential NFL Practice News & Notes for Wednesday

Saints QB Drew Brees (foot) did not practice Wednesday. Brees played last week so we expect he’ll finish out the season.

Bengals QB Andy Dalton (right thumb) was ruled out for Week 17.

Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (left thumb, right elbow, low back) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Fitzpatrick is expected to play through his various ailments.

Colts QB Matt Hasselbeck (shoulder, rib) did not practice Wednesday. Andrew Luck (abdomen, kidney) took limited practice reps Wednesday. If Luck and Hasselbeck are out, Stephen Morris will get the start.

Texans QB Brian Hoyer (concussion, ankle) practiced fully Wednesday. Hoyer will play against the Jaguars. He’s a Sneaky Start in a great matchup and the Texans need a win to stay alive in the playoff hunt. He has thrown at least two touchdowns in seven of his last nine games.

Browns QB Johnny Manziel (concussion) did not practice Wednesday. Manziel is iffy, so Austin Davis may get the start this week.

Titans QB Marcus Mariota (knee) did not practice Wednesday. Zach Mettenberger will start for the Titans.

Bengals QB AJ McCarron (left wrist) took limited practice reps Wednesday. McCarron is expected to play against the Ravens.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (illness) did not practice Wednesday. No worries here.

Falcons QB Matt Ryan (hip) practiced fully Wednesday. Ryan should be fine for a fantastic matchup against the Saints.

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (thigh, knee) practiced fully Wednesday. Tannehill should be fine to face the Patriots.

Bills QB Tyrod Taylor (right shoulder) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Taylor should be able to face a motivated Jets team.
