Sneaky Starts: Week 9

All but the luckiest fantasy owners at some point need to find the proverbial diamond in the rough -- a waiver wire or bench player who is capable of putting up some points in a pinch. This weekly feature is dedicated to that part of fantasy football. It's not pretty, but it's part of the game.

It will be especially important (and difficult) to find Sneaky Starts this week given the six-team Byepocalypse.

How did our Sneaky Starts fare last week? There are always a few duds, but Kyle Orton (QB5), Carson Palmer (QB10), Derek Carr (QB16), Mark Ingram (RB3), Theo Riddick (RB14), Denard Robinson (RB17), Jonathan Stewart (RB22), Jonas Gray (RB25), Darren McFadden (RB27), Travaris Cadet (RB38), Brandon LaFell (WR11), Donte Moncrief (WR13), Mohamed Sanu (WR14), Andre Holmes (WR19), Greg Jennings (WR24), Cordarrelle Patterson (WR25), Justin Hunter (WR28), Davante Adams (WR32), Dwayne Bowe (WR36), James Jones (WR38), Doug Baldwin (WR39), Jason Witten (TE5), Dwayne Allen (TE12) and Scott Chandler (TE13) all finished with starter- or flex-caliber numbers in Week 8.

Quarterbacks

Ryan Tannehill, Dolphins (vs. SD)
The Chargers’ secondary is beat up, so this is a pretty good matchup (at home) for Tannehill. He has the #14 PPG thus far.

Robert Griffin III, Redskins (@ MIN)
It’s not a great matchup (the Vikings are #3 in QB aFPA), but Griffin has a high ceiling due to his ability to run the ball and the full set of weapons at his disposal in the passing game.
