Week 5 Essential NFL Practice News & Notes for Thursday

Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (ankle) was ruled out for Week 5. Kirk Cousins gets another start after a nightmarish performance against the Giants in Week 4.

Rams QB Shaun Hill (thigh) practiced fully Wednesday. Austin Davis has been named the starter going forward.

Titans QB Jake Locker (right wrist) took full practice reps again Thursday. Locker is expected to start against the Browns. He’s not an appealing fantasy start, but his presence probably helps the Titans’ passing game.

Buccaneers QB Josh McCown (right thumb) missed practice again Thursday. McCown is trying to avoid surgery, but it doesn’t look like the Bucs will rush him back in Week 5. Mike Glennon pulled out a nice comeback win in Pittsburgh last week.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (right shoulder) missed practice again Thursday. It’s not looking good for Week 5. Drew Stanton would get another start, which is a downgrade for the entire passing offense save for rookie John Brown, who caught two TDs in Week 3. Stanton looked comfortable against the 49ers in Week 3, however.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (not injury related) was added to the injury report Thursday after taking limited practice reps. We’ll monitor this, but since it’s not injury related, it’s not much of a concern.

Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) returned to full practice reps Thursday after missing Wednesday. Romo says he is feeling much better than he did early in the season.
